Airsoft in Paradise

When a friend asked if our kids enjoyed airsoft, I had to smile.
"Enjoy" is not the right word. Our kids LOVE airsoft. In fact, Young Man sleeps with his loaded airsoft rifle under his pillow (full of delusions of grandeur that if there were an alien invasion, he would be ready to protect the family). I am forever stepping on tiny plastic balls, evidence of another sibling contest. So it didn't take much persuasion for us to check out the airsoft place in town.
We got there a bit early and the kids were excited to be able to check out the field before the battles commenced.
It was pretty cool. Old cars and other hideouts litter the 2-acre course, offering plenty of fodder for imagination (and more practically, lots of places to hide).  After they checked out the course, we rented some gear, including safety masks, vests, and guns.
The kids loved it and took this whole thing very seriously. Darling Daughter opted out of the games in favor of honing her skills on the shooting range instead. She had just as much fun.
Even though he ended up getting hit pretty badly at the end of the last game, even Funny Guy had a blast and can't wait to go back.
We had most of the kids from the consulate community show up along with a few other Thais who joined in. Even the hot and humid weather didn't slow these guys down.
At only 250 baht (about $7) for 3 hours at the course and shooting range, a big bag of BBs, airsoft rifle, and safety gear, I have a feeling we will be back soon. In the meantime, you better think twice about breaking and entering at our house. We have these three armed and ready to meet you.
